Counselling for Children, Adolescents and their Parents

These sessions are held with a parent or caregiver at the onset, and with the child’s best interest in mind. The health of the child and their family is the overall objective, by utilizing attachment needs.

Sessions for children

  • Explore emotions in a safe environment

  • Develop and strengthen emotion regulation

  • Process major life changes, like grief, loss, separation divorce

The initial session will generally be an hour long, with follow-up sessions between 30-45min.

Consultation with the parent/caregiver after the session will include suggestions for supporting the child’s wellbeing and strengthening connections within the family unit.

  • Exploring personal goals and presenting issues

  • Addressing emotional needs and strengthening resiliency

  • Looking at social, biological and psychological factors for assessment and treatment planning

  • Parent consultation, if /when necessary and supported by the client
